Designer for researchers, for entrepreneurs, for innovators.

I am passionate about empowering innovators to elevate their visual identity to better tell their story.

Bonding art + science

With a background in chemistry, forensic science, fine art, and design, there is no doubt I am a huge proponent of STE(A)M (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics). As a designer, I find joy in getting to know the details of YOU and uncovering clever ways to help your uniqueness stand out.

You may be thinking, "Science and art? Those are really opposite from each other." To me they are very similar; both require abstract thinking and strive to describe and visualize what is intangible or even impossible to see.

The beauty of art arises not in mechanical reproduction, a computer can accomplish that, but in the unique way an artist sees the world and portrays it. The same is true of chemistry; many biochemical phenomena, the discovery the double-helical structure of DNA for example, were teased out through the unique and radical interpretation of data.

The same can be said of both marketing and forensic science; if marketers all strategize using the same formula, or teams of investigators all approach the evidence from the same angle, then there will be gross oversight on key audiences or worse, of vital clues.

My motivation

A key part of my personality is to reason through and understand how and why things work. This drive is what fuels my creative energy; the joy of discovering the essence of my clients' identities and developing a strategy for them to promote their best, true selves.

Many times I have seen ground-breaking research presented in the most confusing and visually distracting ways and beautiful design completely miss the point of the message. Having presented my own research, I understand the struggle and need to present complex ideas clearly and effectively.

For me graphic design isn't just a job or a hobby, it's a means to be deeply involved in helping others effectively communicate. Whether it be a scientific presentation, a conference program, a new brand identity, or simply a business card, each project is worth the care and attention to detail of excellent design.
